Contribute to the Calle de la Resistencia Archiving Project

We are embarking on a project in partnership with Hurricane María Archive, and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, and the Instituto de Investigaciones Interdisciplinarias, University of Puerto Rico-Cayey, to capture this momentous period in the history of Puerto Rico through the eyes and participation of Diaspora in the #RickyRenuncia movement. To do this project we need your help. Tell us your story, send photographs, journals, or recordings that represent how you participated. Our archive will join as it’s own collection as part of the Hurricane María Archive for public, educational, and research purposes. Together we can start to build this important community archive!

Some examples of items that could be included in the Community Archive are:

  • a sign or art you or someone else in your community created

  • screen shots of social media posts

  • videos or recordings of events, classes, workouts, spoken words and music shared online during this time

  • photographs of your home/work-space or scenes from around your community that illustrate changes in society taken during this time

  • your own (written, audio, or video) documenting your experience

To do this project, we need your help. Submissions may be in the form of digital photographs, text files, PDFs, spreadsheets, presentations, audio files, or video files.

Submit materials using this -> project submission form, or email us at puertoricansinaction.la@gmail.com

More About the Hurricane María Archive:
The Hurricane María Archive uses participatory and collaborative methods to preserve and present testimonies of the disaster in a digital repository. This project aims to create digital and physical spaces for exchanging ideas and learning from the diverse community responses that emerged after María. On this website you will find the archive's digital collections.

The archives were inspired by the new musical, “Calle de la Resistencia: El Musical.” To be released this year!
