The 2nd Annual Hurricane Maria Remembrance and Resiliency Event is free and open to the public. We invite you to join us for an afternoon of activities and workshops aimed at preparing us for disasters, while we honor the thousands of lives we lost after the hurricane. There will be workshops on disaster readiness, resiliency through Puerto Rican art, crafts, music, dance, food, and healing.
The Gabrelino Tongva Springs Foundation is welcoming us into their community center for this opportunity for cultural exchange, and we are very honored.
On September 20th, 2017, Hurricane Maria threw our community onto the front-line of the disaster response. We all can be proud of our collective reaction that got hundreds of thousands of supplies to Puerto Rico. But how prepared are we to support our families and extended community when the disaster hits our backyard?
Preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters and traumatic events is essential to the health of individuals and communities alike. We are stronger together to weather all types of emergencies, including fires, floods, mudslides, drought, earthquakes, and human-caused disasters.
We will be releasing more details in the coming weeks.
