A curated selection of the landmark documentary project, “Puerto Rican Diaspora: Themes in the Survival of a People,” will be displayed at “Dia de San Juan Salsa Festival” in Long Beach on June 11, at the Swiss Park Newark on June 17, and at LMU on June 24th. This event will offer a new generation of viewers a chance to experience this landmark project and connect with its beautiful, profound, and uplifting portrayal of Puerto Rican survival across the United States.

This two-hour workshop will include case studies, discussion on family history research challenges, and an explanation of digital tools to help with the genealogy research process. Participants will receive expert tips to kick-start their Puerto Rican family history research. Bring your questions, family photos, heirlooms, and oral stories. On behalf of the Puerto Rican Community Association (PRCA) and the Latinx community, we are excited to invite you to Decolonizing Climates with Oscar López Rivera on February 20th, 2020 in the Multipurpose Room of the Student Community Center from 6:00pm - 9:00pm. UC Davis will be one of eight sites along López Rivera’s West Coast tour in partnership with University of Washington, UC Berkeley, San Francisco State University, La Peña Cultural Center, and UC Santa Barbara. We are working to provide a platform for López Rivera to share his experience as a former political prisoner, and his work as an accomplished community organizer.

López Rivera’s lecture is presented in conjunction with Oscar Tuazon’s Water School installation, on view within the In Plain Sight exhibition at the Henry.
Join us for an evening of tribute, music and conversation with Puerto Rican patriot and visionary, Oscar López Rivera. This event is part of a national U.S. speaking tour titled “Oscar López Rivera—Two Years Later: Resistance and Resilience”.
All proceeds are going to Puerto Rico! We might not be on the same island but it does not give us an excuse not to do anything! There will be food and pastries, music, poetry, and DJ.

Come hear from people who participated in and allied with the Young Lords about that vital history and its lessons for today’s decolonization and liberation struggles. We will also commemorate the 11/16 birthday of the late independentista and former political prisoner Lolita Lebron.
The 2nd Annual Hurricane Maria Remembrance and Resiliency Event is free and open to the public. We invite you to join us for an afternoon of activities and workshops aimed at preparing us for disasters, while we honor the thousands of lives we lost after the hurricane. There will be workshops on disaster readiness, resiliency through Puerto Rican art, crafts, music, dance, food, and healing.
We are also honored that the Gabrelino Tongva Springs Foundation is welcoming us into their community center for this opportunity for cultural exchange.

Jurakán was an Official Selection of the Havana Film Festival in 2017 and the Rincón International Film Festival in 2018. In the Rincón International Film Festival, Jurakán won Best Documentary.

On Friday, April 12, 2019, Puerto Ricans in Action will be hosting the Second Annual "Puerto Rican Film Night" in hopes of showcasing the creative works of Boricua filmmakers and as part of our efforts to ensure the vibrant future of the Puerto Ricans in Los Angeles.
The evening will include a two-hour screening block of short films, networking, and a 30min Q&A with the filmmakers.
